This was Bianca’s book for January as part of the #12booksin12months reading challenge.
She says: “This took me a little while to get into but once I did it was captivating all the way to the end; I couldn’t finish the book fast enough to find out what happened. Each chapter flits between the mother’s (Lydia) and daughter’s (Emma) perspectives, as they try and find a way to understand what has happened and if will they ever see each other again.
It was beautifully descriptive regarding the location in Malaya: the sights, the smells, the heat. A moving read of unconditional love, loss and determination.”
